Former NHLer Mike Comrie and his wife, singer/actress Hilary Duff are separating. Comrie, 33, and Duff, 26, began dating in 2007 and wed in August 2010; they have a two-year-old son, Luca.
The announcement of their split came on Jan. 10th; Duff’s rep said: “They remain best friends and will continue to be in each other’s lives. They are dedicated to loving and parenting their amazing son.”
Comrie, who hails from Edmonton, Alberta, spent 10 years in the NHL, playing center for the Edmonton Oilers, Philadephia Flyers, Phoenix Coyotes, Ottawa Senators, New York Islanders, and the Pittsburgh Penguins. He played in 589 games before retiring from hockey in Feb. 2012 after his third hip surgery.
After the announcement, Duff tweeted: “Mike and I are sitting here, we are so appreciative for all of your kindness & well wishes. Not an easy day but we’re getting thru it together.”
